Cape Sounio - Half Day (4 hours)

Cape Sounio is the most southern tip of Attica, a great location for the sanctuary of the powerful god of the sea.

Following Poseidon Avenue and driving through the southern suburbs of Athens, such as Glyfada, Voula, Vouliagmeni, or the so-called Athenian Riviera, you will see sandy beaches, marinas, cafes, restaurants and a wonderful view of the Saronic Gulf.

The coastal drive to Cape Sounio is one of the most scenic in the world, a route that creates anticipation for something sacred which you actually see as soon as you arrive there, the marble columns of the temple of the mighty god of the sea.

The temple was built in the fifth century BC, at the time of Pericles, on the foundations of a previous temple destroyed by the Persians.

Cape Sounio was not only a sanctuary, but also a fortress of great importance for the Athenians.

The brilliant white columns of the temple have stood there for twenty-five centuries to welcome travelers to Athens.

The rocky promontory offers a view of nearby Cycladic islands and spectacular sunset views.
